INDUSTRY

Software for energy and utilities

Operators in this sector do not need their control systems touched. They need the reporting, asset and field layers around those systems to stop being spreadsheets. We build the platforms that sit safely on the enterprise side of the boundary and turn operational data into something leadership and field teams can act on.

We work next to the control system, not inside it

SCADA, historians and industrial control systems have their own vendors, their own change control and their own safety case. We do not modify them. We consume from them, through a one-way or tightly controlled path on the enterprise side of the network boundary, and we design that path with your OT team before writing application code.

That constraint shapes everything downstream. Data arrives as a replicated or exported stream, latency expectations are set honestly, and the platform behaves correctly when a feed pauses. An operational dashboard that silently shows yesterday's numbers is more dangerous than one that says the feed is stale.

  • Read-only ingestion from historians and process data stores, agreed with the OT team
  • Clear network segregation, with no enterprise system initiating into the control zone
  • Feed health and data freshness surfaced to the user, not hidden
  • Time-series storage sized for retention and query patterns you actually have

Assets, outages and the work that follows them

The recurring requests we see are the same: one asset register everyone trusts, outage and incident records that survive the shift handover, maintenance work orders that reach the technician's phone, and a report to the regulator or the board that does not take a week to assemble.

We build the asset hierarchy first, because every other module hangs off it. Outage, incident, inspection and maintenance records all attach to an asset with a location and a criticality, which is what makes reliability and availability reporting possible instead of anecdotal.

Field teams, connectivity and evidence

Substations, plant rooms, remote sites and pipeline corridors have poor connectivity and strict safety procedures. Field software has to work offline, capture photographic evidence, respect permit-to-work and lock-out procedures, and sync without losing anything when the technician returns to coverage.

We also build the reporting layer above it, so consumption, losses, emissions and availability figures come from the same records the field team produced, rather than from a parallel set of numbers assembled for the report.

  • Offline-first field application with evidence capture and conflict-safe sync
  • Work orders, inspections and permit-to-work references linked to assets
  • Operational reporting on availability, losses, consumption and emissions
  • Alerting with escalation rules and an on-call rota that reflects the real roster

Which of our services usually apply

Data & Analytics and Enterprise Architecture lead here, with Systems Integration to reach ERP, GIS, metering and maintenance systems. Security & Compliance is non-negotiable given the OT boundary, and Managed Support & SRE keeps the platform observable once it is carrying operational reporting.

Where an operator's internal team already owns the domain, outstaffing is often the better fit. We supply senior engineers who understand time-series data and industrial integration, working under your change process.

What you get

  • Asset register with hierarchy, location, criticality and document attachments
  • Ingestion pipeline from historians and process data stores, with feed monitoring
  • Outage, incident and event records with shift handover and root-cause fields
  • Maintenance and inspection work orders with scheduling and completion evidence
  • Offline-capable field mobile application with photographic evidence capture
  • Operational and regulatory reporting built on one dataset
  • Network and data-flow documentation agreed with your OT and security teams
  • Alerting, runbooks and an agreed support SLA

Questions

Not directly, and not without your OT team leading the design. We consume data on the enterprise side through an agreed controlled path, and we never build an enterprise system that can write into a control zone.

We have engineers experienced with time-series data, industrial protocols and OT-adjacent integration. We are not a control systems vendor and we will say so rather than take work that belongs with one.

Yes, with time-series storage and downsampling designed around your retention and query needs. We size against your actual tag counts and sampling rates during discovery, not a generic estimate.
